Over 150 firefighters were in the gallery, looking down on the Michigan Senate on Monday. Senators say they’ve reached a deal to add $1 million to a fund, in order to cover the cost of cancer treatments for first responders. A rally was held outside the capital Monday morning, where firefighters changed “fund our bill.” State Senator Curtis Hertel says the First Responder Coverage Fund was created last year but no money was put in it.
