Residents In Parts Of Battle Creek Asked To Keep Water Running

The City of Battle Creek earlier this week asked some residents to trickle water to keep lines from freezing and that request remains in effect.  Here is the information from the press release:

As sometimes happens this time of year, the city’s Water Division is handling a number of frozen water lines into customers’ homes or businesses, resulting in a request for some customers to run water to prevent additional lines from freezing.

If your address is described in the list below, please run water at a tap or faucet that can be left running continuously. The amount of flow should be three-eighths of an inch in size, or about the size of a pencil. This flow should prevent water lines from freezing.

Billing adjustments will be provided for accounts that have been told to run water. The affected customers also will receive a letter from the city that provides more detail and confirms the need to run water. Once the weather warms, the city will inform customers that they no longer have to run water.

Billing adjustments will be provided only to the customers in these areas, or who were instructed to run water because of a history of freezing water lines.
