The Richard's Ride for June is the 2015 Ford Focus SE from Lakeview Ford Lincoln!

Back in 1982, my mother bought a Ford Escort. If you wanted an inexpensive economy car, it was among the best choices. But, wow. It had a radio in it, but that was it for the amenities. The interior was vinyl, it had a 5-speed manual transmission, and was so basic

the steering wheel was this hard-as-heck plastic thing without even a Ford emblem on it (the horn was sounded by banging the end of the turn signal stalk inward toward the steering column - so there was no need to make the steering wheel soft!). Boy, have we come a long way since then.

The 2015 Focus is fresh from some updates at the design studio, giving it a similar look in front as the bigger Fusion. The leather interior and overall fit and finish are miles and miles from that '82 Escort. And, with a 2.0L I-4 Flex Fuel engine, our Focus SE test car is rated at 38 mpg highway and 26 mpg city for a combined 30 mpg.

Soon, we'll show you the Focus up close in our next Richard's Ride video!

Hear The Richard Piet Show weekday mornings from 5:30-9 on WBCK.
