Richard's Ride: 2018 Ford F-150 Platinum

Improving upon the F-150 is probably a challenge for Ford Motor Company. How do you improve on the best-selling vehicle 30 years running?

There's the challenge: Improve upon something that easily can fall into the "ain't-broke-don't-fix-it" category. But, for 2018 Ford has done a great job of walking that tightrope.

Our 2018 F-150 Platinum showcased in this Richard's Ride from Lakeview Ford Lincoln shows the top-of-the-line truck in the F-150 lineup, and while it looks great, it's toned down a bit, styling-wise. That's most noticed in the down-tick in bright, shiny chrome this time, with Ford opting for more understated, brushed chrome instead.

Still, a promient grille treatment offsets the 2018 model from its predecessor. Ford is also introducing a PowerStroke turbo diesel V6 engine option in the 2018 F-150, along with two Ecoboost engines and the 5.0L V8.
