A 28-year-old Battle Creek man was arrested Friday afternoon after robbing a prominent business in town.

Emmett Township Public Safety officers responded to the call around 12:30pm to OT's Up-N-Smoke BBQ's site near Main Street and Columbia. They learned that the suspect had used a weapon to demand cash from the clerk and drove away with the funds.

Thanks to a description of the suspect and the getaway vehicle, Calhoun County Sheriff's deputies and the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Tribal Police were able to find the car in a parking lot near the Firekeepers Casino Hotel.

Authorities were able to contact the driver inside, which included a positive identification of the suspect being sought.

He was arrested on a charge of armed robbery and is behind bars at the Calhoun County Jail. His arraignment could potentially occur on Monday, June 18th.
