You are not going to believe this one — or maybe in the times we live in, you will.

According to an article in The Daily Caller, a Washington state school district has banned the game of tag.

Why?

They want to protect the “emotional safety” of its children by banning them from playing tag.

Washington States Mercer Island School District, which is located in the suburbs of Seattle, believes the game of children running after one another is just too dangerous to their fragile physical and emotional states.

Really? What happened to all of us who grew up playing the game?

Are we physically and emotionally damaged?

The district was quoted in the article stating:

“The Mercer Island School District and school teams have recently revisited expectations for student behavior to address student safety. This means while at play, especially during recess and unstructured time, students are expected to keep their hands to themselves. The rationale behind this is to ensure the physical and emotional safety of all students.”

Is the game of tag now a form of bullying someone?

What are we teaching our children? Doesn't the school understand that sheltering these children from everything in life will also damage them?

What is going to happen to these children when they get into the real world?

According to the article, Mercer school district is not the first school district to ban tag. A Nashua, N.H. school banned tag, because the school officials said the game violated the school's strict “no contact” rule. Also, a New York school required tag games to be supervised by a teacher. By the way, the New York school also banned balls because they could end up hurting kids.
