Battle Creek's Dr. Joe Schwarz, former mayor, state lawmaker and U.S. representative, is calling on all sides to come together and support President-Elect Donald Trump now that the election is over.

Schwarz, a Republican, publicly endorsed Hillary Clinton for president during a visit to WBCK in September, 2016.

Amid some public protests and support alike for Trump, Schwarz - a professor of public policy at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy - tells WBCK a unified country, he believes, will help Trump be more successful; similar sentiments have been expressed by President Barack Obama.

Additionally, Schwarz hopes the U.S. will eventually do away with the Electoral College, but doubts that will happen soon.
