Shawn Pike was convicted yesterday in Calhoun County Court, found guilty of murdering a gas station attendant in Battle Creek last year.

The jury only deliberated 15 minutes before finding Pike guilty of felony murder.

Pike broke into a Citgo gas station office on West Michigan in Bedford Township on July 23 and stabbed and killed the clerk, 27-year-old mother of three Nicole Gates, before stealing beer and cigarettes.

Pike then called a friend driving from the scene and told him that he had killed Gates according to prosecutors.
