A Berrien County Sheriff’s Deputy was injured due to a crash on snowy I-94 yesterday.

WOOD-TV reports that the incident happened around 1pm Wednesday on eastbound I-94 near Watervliet, where the deputy was escorting a slow moving semi-truck off the highway.

A pickup truck then crashed into the cruiser, causing it to collide with the semi-truck in front, and another that was passing.  The highway was shut down for a time while crews worked the scene.

The deputy was taken to the hospital in stable condition, with his injuries not described.  The driver of the pickup truck was also taken to the hospital, and it is believed that at the time of the crash, he was under the influence of narcotics.

The drivers of the two semis were not injured.
