The Bombers beat the Woodchucks in Wisconsin 12-6 on Sunday.  J.D. Mundy hit three home runs and Alex Howard homered twice for the Bombers, as part of an 18-hit attack.  The Bombers scored in every inning except the 6th and 9th. The two teams play again tonight in Wausau.  The Bombers are 9-4 on the season, in second place behind Wisconsin Rapids.  The Rafters are 12-1.

Tigers

The Tigers salvaged a game at Fenway Park on Sunday Night with and 8-3 win in the final meeting of the season with the Red Sox.   Nick Castellanos hit a two-run homer and Justin Upton hit a grand slam to give Daniel Norris a win. The Tigers are off Monday, and host Arizona and Tampa this week.

NHL Playoffs

The Pittsburgh Penguins have won the Stanley Cup for the second straight year, the first team to do so since the Red Wings in the late 90’s. Patric Hornqvist scored the go-ahead goal with 95 seconds left as the Penguins beat the Predators, 2-0 in Game 6.  Carl Hagelin added an empty net goal with 14 seconds left.  Penguin’s goalie Matt Murray stopped 27 shots for his second straight shutout.  It was the 5th Stanley Cup for the Penguins’ franchise.  Sydney Crosby won the Conn-Smythe trophy as the series’ MVP.

Griffins vs. Crunch in AHL Finals

The Grand Rapids Griffins were blown out Saturday, 5-1 by the Syracuse Crunch in game five of the AHL’s Calder Cup finals.  The Griffins lead three games to two, and host game 6 tomorrow at Grand Rapids.   Game 7, if necessary, will be played Wednesday in Grand Rapids.

French Open Tennis

At the French Open,   A 20-year old gets her first major tournament win.  Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia won the women’s singles, beating Simona Halep.  Rafael Nadal won the men’s final, beating Stan Wawrinka. It’s Nadal’s 10th French Open Title.

NBA Playoffs

The Golden State Warriors lead the Cleveland Cavaliers 3-1 in the NBA Finals and   can win the NBA Championship tonight in Oakland.

Horse Racing

Tapwrit overtook Irish War Cry down the stretch to win the Belmont Stakes, the final race in the Triple Crown.

Golf

Daniel Berger shot a 4-under 66 to win the St. Jude Classic for the second straight year.   Berger was 10 under for the tournament, one shot ahead of Charl Schwartzel and Whee Kim. He came back from being three shots down.

NASCAR

23 year old Ryan Blaney has earned his first career NASCAR Cup victory by holding off Kevin Harvick down the stretch at Pocono Raceway.  Blaney passed Kyle Busch with about nine laps left raced without a working team radio.  Erik Jones was third, followed by Kurt Busch, Brad Keselowski and Martin Truex Jr.

High School Baseball

Homer beat Delton Kellogg 6-0 and then beat Michigan Center 7-6.  The Trojans advance to the state quarterfinals and play Schoolcraft at Hope College tomorrow.

Harper Creek lost 6-2 to Edwardsburg at baseball regional competition on Saturday.  The Beavers finish 24-11 with only four seniors on the team, and look forward to next season.  St. Philip plays lost 4-3 to Hudson and end the season at 25-10.  The Tigers also had a very young team and should be tough again next year.

Concord beat Colon 5- 4.  Concord was later eliminated by Hudson.

Softball      

Edwardsburg 4, Olivet 0.

Soccer

The United States men’s soccer team picked up a rare point in Mexico, getting a 1-1 tie. Michael Bradley scored an early goal from about 40 yards.
