The Bombers made it seven wins in a row with a 9-3 win over Green Bay Tuesday at C.O. Brown Stadium.  The Bombers hit four home runs on the day.  Nikola Vasic hit two homers, and Logan Kaletha, Winston Welch, and Gavin Homer also went deep.   The Battle Creek Bombers are 7-1, and tied with Wisconsin Rapids atop the North Division. Battle Creek heads to Kenosha to play the Kingfish tonight in the first of two there, and they’re home Friday and Saturday to host Kenosha.

Girls Soccer

Marshall beat Middleville Thornapple Kellogg 2-1 in a regional semifinal Tuesday at Plainwell.  Next for the Redhawks is Holland Christian, Thursday at 6pm at Plainwell.

MSU Players Charged in Court

Three former MSU football players were in court Tuesday to face sexual assault charges, following a four month investigation.  A woman says she was raped and forced to perform oral sex at an on-campus apartment in January.  Josh King is charged with first and third-degree criminal sexual conduct.  Demetric Vance and Donnie Corley Jr. face third-degree criminal sexual conduct charges. Coach Mark Dantonio dismissed all three from the team after the charges were made public.

Tigers

With Tuesday’s 5-3 loss to the Angels, the Tigers fall to one game below the .500 mark, at 28-29. The Tigers are still 2 ½ back in the Central Division, after both the Twins and Indians lost on Tuesday.   Second baseman, Ian Kinsler was back Tuesday night, after spending 10 days on the disabled list from a hamstring injury. The also called up starter Buck Farmer, and optioned center fielder Jacoby Jones and lefty Blaine Hardy to Toledo. The Tigers extended catcher James McCann’s rehab assignment. The Tigers will get another crack at the Angels on Wednesday night.  Buck Farmer gets the start for the Tigers.  Hear the game at 6:45, on 95.3 WBCK.

NBA Playoffs

Golden State leads Cleveland 2-0 in the best of 7 NBA Finals. Game 3 is tonight at Cleveland.  Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue says he's not making any lineup changes for the game.  Lue said he's sticking with his starters, including guard J.R. Smith, who has scored just 3 points so far.

Griffins vs. Crunch in AHL Finals

The Grand Rapids Griffins travel to Syracuse to play the Crunch tonight in Game 3 of the AHL’s Calder Cup finals. The Griffins are up 2-0.  Game 4 will be Friday at Syracuse.

NHL Playoffs

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Nashville Predators are tied at two games each in the Stanley Cup Finals.  Game 5 is Thursday night in Pittsburgh.   Game 6 will be Sunday night in Nashville, and Game 7, if necessary, will be a week from Wednesday at Pittsburgh.

French Open Tennis

The French Open men's quarterfinals resume today after rain washed out matches on Tuesday.   The two men's singles matches on the schedule are #4 Rafael Nadal vs. #20 Pablo Carreno Busta, and #2 Novak Djokovic vs. #6 Dominic Thiem.  The other men's quarterfinals later Wednesday are Andy Murray vs. Kei Nishikori, and Stan Wawrinka vs. Marin Cilic.

The last two women's quarterfinals are also on the schedule: Karolina Pliskova against Caroline Garcia, and Simona Halep against Elina Svitolina.

Lions’ Decker Out Indefinitely

The Lions opened their workout Tuesday for the media as the team re-works their offensive line again.  Offensive tackle Taylor Decker, who started every game last season, is out indefinitely after having shoulder surgery. Lions coach Jim Caldwell says Decker was hurt last week during an offseason workout. Detroit drafted Decker No. 16 overall in 2016.

Wings’ Glendening Has Surgery

Detroit Red Wings center Luke Glendening has had surgery on his left ankle and is expected to be out 3 to 4 months. Glendening missed the last seven games of the regular season, finishing with three goals and 11 assists.

Reds’ Player hits 4 Homers

Scooter Gennett hit four home runs for the Reds last night, and had five hits in all for a total of 10 RBI.  It was one of the best hitting performances in the whole history of Major League Baseball.  (No Reds player had ever hit four homers in a game before.  And Scooter is from Cincinnati, so he got to do it in his own hometown.
