Sports: Ex-Detroit Tigers in the Post Season
The Tigers did not make the playoffs for a second straight season, but baseball fans will see plenty of ex-Tigers in the post season.

MLB Playoffs
The Indians hit three solo homers of former Tiger Rick Porcello in the third inning to win Game 1 5-4 over the Red Sox. It was Porcello’s shortest outing of the season after winning a major league-high 22 games. Winning pitcher Andrew Miller, another former Tiger, worked two innings of shutout relief. Game two will be Friday at 4:30 in Cleveland. Former Tiger David Price starts for Boston, against Cleveland ace Cory Kluber.
The Blue Jays blasted Texas 10-1 in Game 1 of the division series. Jose Bautista belted a three-run homer and had four RBIs. Marco Estrada came within two outs of a complete game. Texas starter Cole Hamels was rocked for seven runs over 3 1/3 innings.
Former Ranger J.A. Happ will pitch for the Jays against Yu Darvish of the Rangers in Game two this afternoon at 1pm in Texas.
The Dodgers will be at Washington on today at 5:30pm.
The Giants play the Cubs in Chicago tonight in the National League Division Series at 9pm.
Pistons
Brooklyn beat the Pistons 101-94 to start the pre-season last night. Detroit was outscored by 8 in the final quarter after playing the Nets even for the first three. The Pistons host San Antonio on Monday. The regular season starts October 27th as the Pistons go to Toronto.
Red Wings
The Red Wings are 4-1-1 in pre-season and in Toronto tonight. The Maple Leafs play in Detroit on Saturday to end the pre-season. The regular season starts Thursday in Tampa.
Thursday Night Football
Drew Stanton threw two touchdown passes to Larry Fitzgerald in his first start in two years, David Johnson ran for 157 yards and two scores as the Arizona Cardinals capitalized on San Francisco mistakes to beat the 49ers 33-21 on Thursday night.
Lions Football
The Lions host the Eagles this Sunday at Ford Field. Detroit added depth to their offensive line by signing Brian Mihalik. The deal was announced Thursday. Mihalik played in one preseason game this season for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

College Football
The WMU Broncos are 5-0 to start the season, and host Northern Illinois this Saturday night at Waldo Stadium. The Huskies got their first win of the season on Saturday against Ball State. Kickoff is 6:30pm.
MSU
The MSU Spartans host Brigham Young University on Saturday. The Spartans fell out of the Top 25 after losses to Wisconsin and Indiana. Michigan State hasn't lost three in a row since early in the 2009 season. BYU is coming off a wild 55-53 win over Toledo in which Jamaal Williams set a single-game school record with 286 yards rushing. He also ran for five touchdowns. Williams ranks second in the nation with 703 yards rushing on the season.
Michigan State is averaging 74.5 yards a game in penalties. MSU vs. BYU….Broadcast time is 2pm on WBCK.

Michigan is at Rutgers this Saturday night. Broadcast time is 6pm on 104.9 the Edge.

KCC fell to 4-16 after a tough 5-game loss to Jackson Community College on Thursday.

Girls’ Golf
Stevensville Lakeshore beat Marshall by just 5 strokes to win the Division 3 regional. The second place finish was good enough to earn the Redhawks a birth at the State Finals. Harper Creek’s Sydney Leatherman also played well enough to head to State. The Division 3 Championships will be played next Friday and Saturday at Bedford Valley Golf Club.
Boys’ Tennis
Coldwater finished runner-up to advance to the Boys Tennis State Finals next week in Kalamazoo.
