Tigers closer Francisco Rodriguez blew another save Sunday night in Oakland.  The Oakland Athletics rallied for the second straight day to beat the Detroit Tigers and K-Rod, 8-6 Sunday.  He walked the speedy former Tiger Rajai Davis, who scored on a Jed Lowrie double.  Ryon Healy followed with a 2-run, walk-off homer.  The A’s win happened  less than 24 hours after Adam Rosales hit a two-out, two-run single off Rodriguez in the ninth inning to beat the Tigers.  Rodriguez has blown 4 saves this season and has an earned run average of 8.49.   Daniel Norris gave up 5 runs on 8 hits in just under 5 innings of work.  Shane Green, Blaine Hardy and Justin Wilson were perfect against the A’s until K-Rod’s blown save in the 9th.   The Tigers are off today and start a series with the Diamondbacks in Phoenix on Tuesday night. Justin Verlander will start against former Tiger Robbie Ray.

Yankees beat Cubs in 18 inning Marathon

The New York Yankees beat the Chicago Cubs 5-4 early Monday morning in 18 innings---the most innings ever for an interleague game.   Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman had blown the save when he allowed three Cubs’ runs in the 9th.  Starlin Castro drove in Aaron Hicks with a fielder's choice in the 18th inning to give the Yankees the lead and the win at Wrigley.

Griffins vs. Chicago

The Grand Rapids Griffins beat the Chicago Wolves 4-2 to take a 2-1 series lead.    Game four is on tonight in Grand Rapids.

NHL Playoffs

The Edmonton Oilers beat the Anaheim Ducks, 7-1 to force a seventh game in their series. The Oilers had a 5-0 lead after one period. Game 7 is Wednesday at Anaheim.

Nashville eliminated the St. Louis Blues, 4 games to 2 with a 3-1 win in Nashville. Ryan Johansen scored with 3:15 remaining to break a 1-1 tie.

Ottawa leads the New York Rangers three games to two.  Game 6 is Tuesday in New York.

The Penguins lead the Capitals 3-2.  Game 6 is tonight in Pittsburgh.

NBA Playoffs

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers swept the Toronto Raptors in four straight, 109-102 in Toronto. James had 35 points.

The San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets are tied at two games each after the Rockets’ 125-104 romp over San Antonio. They play again on Tuesday at San Antonio.

The Golden State Warriors have a 3-0 lead over the Utah Jazz.  Game 4 is tonight in Utah.

Washington and Boston are tied at two games apiece in the NBA's Eastern Conference semifinals after the Wizards scored 26 straight points in the third quarter of a 121-102 pounding of the Celtics.   Game 5 is Wednesday in Boston.

NASCAR

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. edged out Kyle Busch in at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday for his first NASCAR Cup victory.

PGA

John Daly closed with three straight bogeys Sunday but still managed to win his first PGA Tour Champions title, a one-stroke victory in the Insperity Invitational.  The 51-year-old Daly had not won on tour since the PGA Tour's 2004 Buick Invitational.

Brian Harman made a 28-foot birdie putt at the last hole to get to 10 under and edge Dustin Johnson for the win at the Wells Fargo Championship at Eagle Point Golf Club.
