Lions
The Lions are 1-6 after a 28-19 loss to the Vikings at Ford Field Sunday afternoon.
The Lions raced out to a 17-6 lead late in the second quarter. Lions’ wide receiver Calvin Johnson had 86 receiving yards is now 13th on the NFL's all-time list to pass Joey Galloway with 10,979. The Lions play the 2-5 Chiefs in London this Sunday. Kansas City is coming off a win over the Steelers.
Monday Night Football
The Arizona Cardinals host the Baltimore Ravens tonight on "Monday Night Football" at University of Phoenix Stadium.
Red Wings
The Red Wings are home tomorrow as they host the Carolina Hurricanes. The Wings snapped a four-game skid with a 3-2 overtime win at Vancouver on Saturday.
Pistons
The Pistons will open the regular season on the road against the Hawks tomorrow. Detroit will then play three games at home against the Jazz, Bulls and Pacers before a six-game road trip. The Pistons finished exhibition play 3-and-5.
Former Piston Coach Dies
Former Pistons and current Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Flip Saunders is dead at the age of 60. He passed away Sunday, just months after undergoing treatment for Hodgkin lymphoma. Saunders led Detroit to three straight conference finals from 2005 to 2008.
College Football
Michigan State moved up one spot in this week's AP Top-25 Poll, while Michigan is holding firm. Ohio State remains at number one, followed by Baylor, Clemson, LSU, and TCU. The 8-and-0 Spartans improved from seventh to sixth after Saturday's 52-26 win over Indiana. The 5-and-2 Wolverines remain 15th after a bye. The Wolverines go up against the 4-3 Golden Gophers in Minnesota this Saturday. MSU has a bye this week.
Baseball
The Royals host the Mets in game 1 of the World Series tomorrow night at 8. Game 2 is Wednesday in KC, games 3, 4, and 5 are in New York starting Friday night.
