The Lions beat Kirk Cousins and the Redskins 20-17 Sunday at Ford Field.  Matthew Stafford was 18 of 29 for 266 yards with one TD and no turnovers in the 100th game of his career.  The Lions (4-3) have won three straight thanks in large part to Stafford making clutch throws in the final minutes, giving him 24 career wins with game-winning drives in the fourth quarter.  The despite injuries, the Lions’ defense made it a tough day for former Spartan star and Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins.  Detroit's Darius Slay left the game with a hamstring injury in the second quarter.  Detroit hits the road to face Houston after being at home for three straight games.  Broadcast time is 12 noon Sunday on WBCK.

 NFL

The Vikings lost their first game of the season, 21-10 to Philadelphia.   The Eagles sacked their former quarterback Sam Bradford six times.

Cleveland remains the NFL's only winless team, losing to Cincinnati to a 31-17.

Both kickers missed short field goals that would have won the game in overtime and the Seahawks and Cardinals settled for a 6-6 tie Sunday night.

Tonight, Denver hosts Houston on Monday Night Football.

MLB

The Cubs beat the Dodgers 5-0 on Saturday night, to get back to the World Series for the first time since 1945.  And they haven't won it since 1908.

The Cubs head to Cleveland to play the Indians on Tuesday night.   The Tribe hasn’t won a championship since 1948, so either way someone is breaking a curse.
