The Lions had another big comeback win… a 22-16 overtime win in Minnesota. The Vikings took a 16-13 lead with 23 seconds to play but Matthew Stafford hit Seth Roberts for 27 yards to set up Prater's game-tying kick.  Matt Prater kicked a 58-yard field goal as time expired to force overtime.

Matthew Stafford threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Golden Tate, who vaulted into the end zone in overtime to give the Lions the win.  Tate had 11 catches for 79 yards.  Stafford completed 23 of 36 passes for 219 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.  Prater was a perfect 3 for 3 kicking for Detroit.   The Vikings’ Blair Walsh missed and extra point which ended up being the difference in the game.  Tyrunn Walker blocked a field goal, Kerry Hyder had two sacks and the Lions stuffed the Vikings on fourth-and-1 at the Detroit 5-yard line in the fourth quarter to keep them in position to rally late.  The Lions’ Theo Riddick ran for 70 yards on 14 carries, including a career long 42 yard run.   Sam Bradford completed 31 of 40 passes for 273 yards and a touchdown for the Vikings (5-3), who started the season 5-0 but have imploded since coming out of the bye.  The 5-4 Lions take a bye week before hosting Jacksonville on November 20th.  Your favorite Detroit Lions memory could get you tickets to the game. The Colts beat Packers 31-26.  Raiders beat the Super Bowl Champion Broncos 30-20 on Sunday Night Football to go 7-2.  Latavius Murray ran for 114 yards and three touchdowns.

Red Wings

The Red Wings have lost 5 straight after the Edmonton Oilers’ 2-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday.  Justin Abdelkader put the Red Wings up 1-0 midway through the first period on a power play.  Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored a go-ahead goal late in the second period to put the Oilers ahead to stay.  Jimmy Howard made 26 saves.  Detroit has lost five straight after winning six consecutive games.  The Red Wings hit the road to play at Philadelphia on Tuesday.

NASCAR

Carl Edwards was the winner at Texas Motor Speedway’s AAA Texas 500.   Now there are two races left in this season’s Race to the Sprint Cup.

Volleyball

Gull Lake beat Lakeview for the District Championship and will play DeWitt in the regional semi-final Tuesday at Coldwater.

Cross Country

Lakeview’s Maggie Farrell and St. Philip’s Ava Strenge both won state Cross Country titles in their respective divisions on Saturday at MIS.

High School Football Playoffs

Climax-Scotts takes on Ottawa Lake Whiteford in a Region 4 matchup this weekend.

College Football

Western Michigan moved up three spots to 14th after a 52-20 win at Ball State. That's the highest ranking for any Mid-American Conference team since Ball State was 12th on Nov. 30, 2008.  Western Michigan plays another Tuesday night game, at Kent State tomorrow night.   The Broncos are 18 ½ point favorites.

Texas A&M tumbled three spots to No. 10 while the top six teams remained intact in The Associated Press college football poll released Sunday.  Alabama, Michigan, Clemson, Washington, Louisville and Ohio State remained in front in the Top 25 rankings.

Olivet College is 8-1 and 6-0 in the MIAA after the Comet won 44-37 at Adrian College. Olivet clinches at least a share of the conference title with the win.

Pistons

The 4-2 Pistons play at the 5-1 LA Clippers tonight and at Phoenix on Wednesday.  The Suns are 2-5.

KCC Basketball

KCC’s Men’s team fell to 0-2 with a 108-66 loss to Sinclair Community College.  The Bruins play U of M Dearborn on Tuesday night.

The KCC Women’s Basketball team lost their first game of the season to Sinclair, 71-34.

College Basketball

Michigan State’s basketball team is ranked 12th in the AP poll and 9th in the USA Today poll.  The Spartans have their regular season opener this Friday against Arizona in Honolulu.
