Lions

The Lions lost 24-20 to the Cowboys in Dallas. Matthew Stafford passed for 323 yards, a touchdown and an interception for the Lions, who haven't won a playoff game since 1992, and haven’t won one on the road since the 1957 Championship season.

Golden Tate had six catches for 89 yards and a score in the loss. The Lions built a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, but managed just two field goals the rest of the way.  Tony Romo threw two touchdown passes to Terrance Williams, one with 2:32 to go in the game.  The game was not without several controversial calls by the officials.  Sunday’s game could be the last for Ndamakong Suh in a Lions’ uniform.   He’s a free agent going into next season.

NFL Playoffs

Meanwhile, Andrew Luck threw for 376 yards and a touchdown to lead the Indianapolis Colts to a 26-10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. The Colts will clash with Peyton Manning and the Broncos in Denver next Sunday.

The playoffs will resume next Saturday when the New England Patriots host Baltimore Ravens. The defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks will also welcome the Carolina Panthers Saturday night.

Pistons

The Pistons beat Sacramento 114-95 on Sunday. Brandon Jennings poured in 35 points and dished out seven assists.  Andre Drummond recorded a 15 point 14 rebound double-double to help Detroit pick up its fifth straight victory.  Greg Monroe also had a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards.  The Pistons play at San Antonio tomorrow night.

College Basketball

MSU hosts Indiana tonight in East Lansing.  MSU is 9-and-5 after Tuesday's double overtime loss to Maryland in their Big Ten opener. Indiana comes in at 11-and-3.   6pm on WBCK.

The Michigan Wolverines face Penn State tomorrow.

The WMU Broncos enter Mid-American Conference play with a 9-4 record and head to Akron on Tuesday.

Women’s Basketball

The Michigan women’s basketball team beat MSU, 74-65.

MSU Senior Becca Mills scored her 1000th point in the game.

College Football

The college football season is down to one game. The second-ranked Oregon Ducks will meet the fourth-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes one week from tonight in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

In the final bowl game on Sunday night, Toledo trounced Arkansas State 63-44 in the GoDaddy Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.

Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings are at Rexall Place to play the Edmonton Oilers tomorrow. Detroit comes in at 20-10-and-9 after a 4-to-1 loss to Vancouver on Saturday. Edmonton is 9-22-and-9.

Wolves in Peoria

The West Michigan Wolves Junior A hockey team split a pair in Peoria, winning Saturday 3-1 and losing 5-3 Sunday.

ESPN Anchor Dies

Long time ESPN Sportscenter anchor Stuart Scott has died at the age of 49, losing his longtime fight with cancer.  At the 20-14 espy awards, Scott was the recipient of the "Jimmy V Award for Perseverance" and spoke eloquently despite just recently being released from a hospital after undergoing several surgeries for his cancer.  Scott was a member of the ESPN family for more than 20 years.
