College Basketball Today…

Western Michigan hosts Akron at 2pm at Read Field House.

EMU is at CMU at 2pm.

The MSU men travel to Nebraska.  The Spartans are 13-6 and the Huskers are 11-7. Broadcast time is 3pm on WBCK.

Michigan will tip off against Wisconsin at the Crisler Center at 7pm.  They’ll be home on Tuesday against Nebraska. Be listening to WBCK on Monday for a chance to win tickets.

West Michigan Wolves

The West Michigan Wolves Jr. Hockey team beat the Bulldogs inChicago5-3 last night.  Kyler Patenaude made 28 saves in gold forWest Michigan.  The Wolves head to Wisconsinto play La Crosse tonight and tomorrow.  They have 10 regular season games remaining.

Red Wings

The Red Wings are off for the NHL All-Star break.  The All Star game is Sunday in Columbus. Detroitwill be the only NHL team without a representative at the game.  Goalie Jimmy Howard was selected but is injured. The NHL skills competition is tomorrow.

MSU Hockey

Michigan State beat Ohio State 4-1 in hockey. Goaltender Jake Hildebrand made 33 saves.  The same two teams play tonight at Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing.

The Harper Creek Beavers used a 16-0 run to start the game to sprint past the Marshall Redhawks Friday in a 79-58 triumph. Senior James Cadena scored 20 points to go along with seven boards and eight assists.

Marshall Academy 65, Calhoun Christian 20. Isaac Mead 19 points, Kemar DeJesus 14 points

Girls Basketball

Marshall Academy 38, Calhoun Christian 37. Carly Travis sunk two free throws with 6 seconds in the game to pull out the win for the Griffons. Elayna Hoyt 11 points.

Pro Bowl

The Lions’ Matthew Stafford, Golden Tate, Calvin Johnson, Glover Quin and Ndamukong Suh will be at the Pro-Bowl game tomorrow in Glendale Arizona.   The game is being played at the site of next week's Super Bowl, and will return to Hawaii next season.

Deflated Ball Scandal

The NFL says it currently has no conclusions on how the New England Patriots used underinflated balls in the AFC title game last weekend despite interviewing dozens of people and collecting physical evidence. However, the league says evidence shows the Patriots used underinflated footballs during the first half of the Pats' 45-7 rout ofIndianapolis.  The league spoke in more detail about its investigation after Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said Thursday afternoon he had not been contacted at that point.

The NFL has offered no timetable for resolving the cheating accusations with the Super Bowl nine days away.
