College Football

Both Ohio State and Michigan ranked in the top three before Saturday’s game, but neither team will play in the Big Ten Championship Game this Saturday in Indianapolis.  Instead, it’ll be #6 Wisconsin versus #8 Penn State.   After Saturday’s 30-27 double overtime loss in Columbus, Michigan Coach Jim Harbaugh ranted about his disappointment with the officiating.  With the loss, the Wolverines dropped outside of the top four in this week's AP Top 25. Michigan is 5th in this week's poll, with Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and Washington making up the top four.  Wisconsin is 6th, Penn State is 8th, and Western Michigan is 13th. The Michigan-Ohio State thriller Saturday drew a 10.4 overnight rating -- the best for any game across ESPN or ABC. The rating was the second-best for a game on ABC, topped by the 2006 Michigan-Ohio State game.  Michigan's most likely bowl destination appears to be the Orange Bowl, on Dec. 30th against Louisville or Florida State.   As the season enters championship week, most projections have Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and Washington in the College Football Playoff. Michigan State ends a disappointing season at 3-9 after a 45-12 loss at Penn State.

WMU to MAC Championship Game

Western Michigan takes a perfect 12-0 record into the MAC Championship game this Friday at Ford Field to play 8-4 Ohio University.  Reports surfaced on Twitter on Saturday that PJ Fleck will soon be named as Purdue’s next football coach.  Shortly after, Western Michigan University Athletic Director Kathy Beauregard tweeted: “PJ Fleck has not talked to any teams. He is committed to the WMU Broncos and preparing for the MAC Championship game.”
