Lions Hire Special Teams Coach

The Detroit Lions have hired Joe Marciano as special teams coordinator. He takes over for John Bonamego, who left Detroit to become the new head football coach at Central Michigan University.  Marciano began coaching in the NFL in 1986, and has been special teams coordinator in Tampa Bay and Houston.  He previously worked with Lions head coach Jim Caldwell during his tenure with the Buccaneers, when Caldwell was the team's quarterback coach in 2001.

Cabrera Examined

The Detroit Tigers were expected to release an update on Miguel Cabrera following a doctor's appointment that was scheduled for Tuesday.  But the results of a CT scan that Cabrera underwent Tuesday will not be reviewed until today.  A stress fracture in Cabrera's right foot was discovered and repaired during surgery to remove bone spurs in his right ankle in October.  Cabrera hit .313 with 25 home runs, 109 RBIs and an .895 OPS in 159 games in 2014 while battling injuries for a good portion of the season.
