MSU mauls Northwestern

Michigan State beat Northwestern 76-45 last night in Evanston. Denzel Valentine led the Spartans with 19 points. Matt McQuaid added 17 points and Deyonta Davis had 8 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. The Spartans hit a season-high 16 3-pointers, just one shy of tying the school record set in February 2012 against Purdue. The Wildcats shot just 21 percent from the field for the game. MSU, 18-4 overall and 5-4 in the Big Ten, will host Rutgers on Sunday at 4:15 on WBCK.

Michigan Basketball

The Michigan Wolverines play Penn State on Saturday at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Pistons

The Pistons will host the Cavaliers tonight. Pistons center Andre Drummond has been named to the 2016 Eastern Conference All-Star team as a reserve. He is the first Piston to be named to the All-Star team since Allen Iverson in 2009. Drummond leads the league in rebounds and double-doubles and is averaging a career-high 17.3 points per game. The All-Star Game is February 14th in Toronto.

Pro Bowl

Teams are set for Sunday's Pro Bowl in Hawaii. The Lions' Ziggy Ansah will represent the Lions. Calvin Johnson won’t play, due to an injury.

Red Wings

Red Wings rookie center Dylan Larkin will represent Detroit as NHL All-Star festivities begin in Nashville. Larkin is the first Wings rookie to play in the event since Steve Yzerman in 1984. The weekend kicks off with the skills competition tomorrow night and wraps up with the 61st All-Star Game Sunday afternoon. The format of the event has changed from past years, with three 20-minute 3-on-3 games instead of two teams playing against each other in one game.
