The eighth-ranked Michigan State Spartans host the Wisconsin Badgers tonight.  The Spartans lost in their first meeting with the Badgers earlier this season, a 1-point loss on the road.  The Badgers have won seven-straight games.  Wisconsin is 8-4 in the Big Ten.  The Spartans are 8-5.   Hear the game tonight at 8pm on WBCK.

More College Basketball

The KCC Women’s team beat LCC, 74-70 in overtime.  D”Erika Varenhorst scored 32 points and had 17 rebounds for KCC.

The KCC men’s team lost to Lansing, 80-67.  Coach Ben Reed says they out rebounded LCC and took 30 more shots, but the shots just didn’t go in.

No. 6 Maryland overwhelmed Michigan’s women’s team in the second half to pull away for a 76-56 victory on Wednesday night.

The WMU Broncos will host CMU in Kalamazoo on Saturday.

Wrestling Regionals

Only one area wrestling team made it out of Regionals on Wednesday.  In Division 3…

Delton-Kellogg is headed to the State Quarterfinals, after beating Wyoming Kelloggsville 63-9 and Buchanan 64-12 at Coloma.  They head to CMU a week from Friday.

In Division 2…The season ends for the Beavers and Bearcats.   Harper Creek beat Battle Creek Central at Coldwater.  It was the third win for the Beavers against the Bearcats this season.   Harper Creek lost to Sturgis in the Regional Final, 49-27.

In Division  4 at Bangor…Lawton beat the Climax-Scotts/Martin Co-op team 36-35.

Springport 75, Athens 6.   Schoolcraft beat Bronson 54-18 at Mendon.

Girls Basketball

Battle Creek Central beat Benton Harbor, 78-74 in OT.  Jamesha Smith with 26 points, 14 rebounds, and five blocks.  England Bennett had 16 points.

Red Wings

The Red Wings play in Pittsburgh tonight. Niklas Kronwall and Jonathan Ericsson are traveling with the team, but remain day-to-day.   Kronwall is recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery last month and Ericsson has missed the last two games with a lower body injury. Petr Mrazek returns to the net tonight.

NBA/Pistons

It's trade deadline day in the NBA. Teams around the league have until 3:00 p.m. Eastern to complete deals. The Pistons have already acquired Tobias Harris from the Magic for Ersan Ilyasova and Brandon Jennings.  Detroit plays at Washington on Friday. They lost three straight before the All-Star game and have a 27-27 record.

Lions

Offensive lineman Manny Ramirez will not return to the Lions next season. Ramirez, who was acquired in a trade with Denver last season, will become a free agent next month. He started seven games for Detroit in 2015.

Tigers

It’s here!   Today is the day that pitchers and catchers report to Lakeland.    The first workout is scheduled for tomorrow and the first full-squad workout is slated for next Tuesday.   The first Spring game is with Florida Southern on February 29th, and the Tigers officially opens Grapefruit League play when they host the Pittsburgh Pirates March 1st.

The regular season starts on Tuesday April 5th in Miami, and the Tigers home opener is Friday April 8th against the Yankees.
