The Pistons beat the Celtics 121-114 last night in Boston.  Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 25 points and Tobias Harris had 21.  Andre Drummond added 20 points and 17 rebounds.  Marcus Morris had 20 points and Ish Smith 19 for the Pistons, who had lost eight of their first nine road games before winning away from home on consecutive nights.  The Pistons play the Hawks on Friday in Atlanta to end the road trip, and host Orlando on Sunday.

Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings play the Florida Panthers tonight at Joe Louis Arena.   Detroit heads to Pittsburgh on Saturday.

College Basketball

Virginia Tech beat Michigan at Chrysler Center, 73-70.  Michigan blew a 15 point first half lead.  Duncan Robinson's 3-pointer with 42 seconds left pulled Michigan (5-2) to within a point, and an offensive foul gave the Wolverines the ball back. But Michigan was out of timeouts, and Zak Irvin ended up trying a tough jumper from just inside the arc that missed.   Robinson had a chance to tie it, but his 3-pointer from the left wing missed.  The Wolverines will host Kennesaw State on Saturday.

The Michigan State Spartans will host Oral Roberts on Saturday afternoon in East Lansing.

Western Michigan lost to North Carolina Wilmington, 97-92. The Broncos trailed at the half, 51-32.  They closed in the second half and outscored the Seahawks 60-46, but ran out of time. Tucker Haymond scored 24 points for Western.

Eastern Michigan beat Detroit Mercy 87-61.

KCC beat the Olivet College JV ‘s, 99-81, as the Bruins got their first win.

Battle Creek Central grad Mohammed Albagami had 33 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists for KCC.

Womens Basketball

No. 20 Syracuse beat Michigan State 75-64 in a ACC/Big Ten Challenge game on Wednesday night.

Thursday Night Football

Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer underwent emergency eye surgery, about a month after he had an initial procedure to repair a torn retina. Coach Zimmer may not be there for the Vikings game against Dallas tonight.

 

WMU to MAC Championship Game

Western Michigan needs to stay undefeated to earn a trip to the Cotton Bowl on January 2nd. The Broncos play Ohio U on Friday at Ford Field for the MAC Championship.  The community is invited to line the streets of downtown Kalamazoo today to send the Broncos off .  The motorcade will pass through the central business district between 12:15 and 12:30 p.m.  Fans are encouraged to line Michigan Avenue, between Rose and Portage.

NCAA Football

The Wisconsin Badgers and Penn State Nittany Lions will play for the Big Ten title in Indianapolis on Saturday.

In Division II Football….#2 Grand Valley State will host #15 Ferris State in a Division II Super Region 4 quarterfinal Saturday at 1pm in Allendale.

High School Basketball

High School Basketball on WBCK starts this Monday as St. Philip travels to Athens.

Lions
The NFC North leading Lions play at New Orleans on Sunday.  The Lions still have four games left after Sunday, the Bears and Packers at home, and the Giants and Cowboys on the road.

MLB Agreement

Major League Baseball players and owners have a tentative agreement on a five-year labor contract. The deal extends the sport's labor peace to 26 years since 1995 and was reached about 3 1/2 hours before the expiration of the current agreement.
