Sports: Pistons Lose 8th Straight; WMU Out of Tourney.
Pistons
The Pistons lost their 8th straight, 105-98 to the Golden State Warriors. Detroit led by 2 with about 9 minutes left, but Golden State went on an 18-2 run and held on for the win. Andre Drummond coupled 22 points and 27 rebounds. The Pistons play in Portland on Friday and finish the 4-game trip in Utah on Saturday.
College Basketball
Akron beat Western Michigan 58-45 in the Mid-American Conference Tournament Wednesday night. Eight-seed Eastern Michigan advanced with a 73-67 win over fifth-seeded Bowling Green in second round play yesterday. EMU will tip off against fourth-seed Toledo tonight. Akron plays Kent State. Number-one seed Central Michigan plays either Toledo or EMU on Friday.
Number nine seed University of Michigan tips off in the Big Ten Tournament today as they face eight-seed Illinois in Chicago. Game time is 11:00 a.m. The Wolverines ended the regular season with a 15-15 overall record and went 8-10 in the Big Ten, earning a first round bye. If Michigan gets past Illinois, they will face number one-seed Wisconsin tomorrow. Three-seed Michigan State begins their run in the conference championship tomorrow night against the winner of 11-seed Minnesota and six-seed Ohio State.
Tigers Spring Training
The Detroit Tigers lost to the Washington Nationals 9-2 yesterday inViera,Florida.
Starter David Price was charged with the loss, giving up four runs on four hits while striking out three and walking two in two innings of work. Yoenis Cespedes went one-for-three at the plate with an RBI. Detroitwill play their first split-squad games of the Grapefruit League season today. Justin Verlander makes his second start of the spring in Lakeland against the Phillies, and Drew VerHagen will take the mound in Kissimmee against the Astros.

Harper Creek beat Pennfield 84-58 to advance to the District Final. Five Harper Creek Beavers scored in double figures. TraVon Johnson led the Beavers with 21 points.

Red Wings
The Detroit Red Wings return to the ice tonight as they host the Columbus Blue Jackets at Joe Louis Arena. Center Darren Helm and defenseman Alexey Marchenko were at practice and skated with the team yesterday. Both players are dealing with oblique muscle strains and are not expected to play against the Blue Jackets tonight.
Suh Signs with Miami
Ndamukong Suh is coming to Miami, where he and his new team will both try to end their playoff droughts. The 305-pound heavyweight in this year's free agent class signed a $114 million, six-year deal with the Dolphins on Wednesday.
Hoyer to Texans
Former Michigan State quarterback Brian Hoyer is headed to the Houston Texans after signing a two-year contract worth a reported $10.5 million, $4.75 million guaranteed yesterday. Hoyer will join former Spartans Max Bullough and Keshawn Martin with the Texans, where he'll be reunited with head coach Bill O'Brien. Hoyer was a back-up quarterback in New England from 2009-11 when O'Brien was a Patriots' coach.
