The Pistons lost 115-99 in New Orleans.  Anthony Davis scored 32 points and the Pelicans.  Andre Drummond had 19 points and 22 rebounds for Detroit, while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 23 and Brandon Jennings 20.  Detroit is in Denver to play the  Nuggets on Saturday night and finish the trip in Utah on Monday.

Women’s Basketball

Ohio State beat Michigan 97-93 on Thursday night.  Katelynn Flaherty led Michigan  with 22 points, the 12th straight game where she had scored at least 19. Michigan is 11-7 and 3-4 in the Big Ten.

MSU Basketball

Michigan State hosts Maryland on Saturday…..5:30pm on WBCK. . Spartans senior forward Matt Costello suffered a sprained ankle on Wednesday against Nebraska and is now uncertain to play in Michigan State's Saturday game.

Red Wings

The Red Wings play in Buffalo tonight. Detroit has dropped two straight, including a 2-1 loss to St. Louis Wednesday. Center Brad Richards will not be in the lineup tonight for personal reasons, but he is expected to be back for tomorrow's game against the Anaheim Ducks at Joe Louis Arena.    Petr Mrazek will get the start in goal against the Sabres, but head coach Jeff Blashill said he has not decided if Mrazek or Jimmy Howard will start against the Ducks.

Lions

The Detroit Lions' offseason shakeup has now hit the strength and conditioning staff. New GM Bob Quinn has elected to fire several members of that department, including Jason Arapoff, according to the Detroit Free Press. Arapoff had been with the franchise 15 years, and most recently served as the club's coordinator of physical development. Ted Rath, Detroit's assistant strength coach, was also let go according to the report.

Carr Named to Playoff Committee

Former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr and former Central Michigan head coach Herb Deromedi are among the four new additions to the College Football Playoff selection committee. They’ll serve 3-year terms.
