Pistons

The Pistons have played 54 games this season, and are 12 games under .500.   But with 28 games left, Detroit is only two-games out of a playoff spot in the East.  They were busy in the minutes leading up to yesterday afternoon's trade deadline as they made deals for guard Reggie Jackson and former Piston Tayshaun Prince.

Jackson was acquired from Oklahoma City for guard D.J. Augustin and forward Kyle Singler.   Prince comes back to the Pistons from the Celtics in exchange for forwards Jonas Jerebko and Luigi Datome.  The Pistons plan to sign small forward Quincy Miller to a 10-day contract.    They’re home tonight as the Chicago Bulls come in to the Palace.

Tigers Sign 11 Players

The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has agreed to terms with the following 11 players on contracts for the 2015 season.  They include pitchers Drew VerHagen and Blaine Hardy, catcher James McCann, infielders Jose Iglesias and Dixon Machado and outfielder Steven Moya.  The Tigers now have 26 players of the club's 40-man roster under contract for the 2015 season.

Tigers Spring Training

Today (Friday)  is the day!  Tiger pitchers and catchers report for Spring Training in Lakeland.    Starter Justin Verlander believes the Central Division champs for the last four seasons are still the team to beat.  Verlander said yesterday that while other teams in the division have gotten better, he thinks Detroit has just as good a chance as they've had in the past.  Verlander reported to camp a day early and 25 pounds heavier than last spring, after an off-season of weight training.

The rest of the team will report Monday and the Tigers begin their Grapefruit League schedule March 3rd when they host the Baltimore Orioles.
