Pistons

The Pistons won their 7th straight, beating Dallas 108-95.   Greg Monroe led the way with 27 points, 18 rebounds and six assists.  D.J. Augustin had 26 points off the bench.  Andre Drummond added six points and 19 boards.  Friday night, the Pistons will host the red-hot Atlanta Hawks at The Palace.

Red Wings

The Red Wings beat Calgary Flames 3-2.  Riley Sheahan scored the first goal for Detroit.

Henrik Zetterberg's marker broke open a tie game late in the second period and Justin Abdelkader struck on the power play with two minutes gone in the third.   It was Zetterberg’s 800th NHL game.   Goalie Petr Mrazek had 28 saves and shut down the Flames for the final 14 minutes for the win.  The Wings are in Washington on Saturday night.

Pro Bowl

Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson will not play in this year's Pro Bowl because of his injured right ankle. Johnson finished the season with 71 receptions for 1,077 yards and eight touchdowns and had been selected to his fifth straight Pro Bowl.  The NFL announced yesterday that Johnson will be replaced by New York Giants rookie receiver Odell Beckham junior. Safety Glover Quinn and defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh will represent Detroit at the Pro Bowl, which will be held in Arizona later this month.

Winston to NFL

Jameis Winston has decided to enter the NFL Draft after two years as Florida State's quarterback.  Winston's camp had initially indicated that an announcement wouldn't come until after the College Football Playoff national championship game next Monday.

However, ESPN on Wednesday morning cited Winston's father as saying his son has decided to enter the NFL Draft and Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher later in the afternoon confirmed it in a statement.

College Basketball

MSU plays at Iowa tonight. 6pm on WBCK.   The Spartans host Northwestern on Sunday.  We’ll have a chance for you to win tickets coming up on Friday's show.

Michigan hosts Minnesota on Saturday at 1 pm.

Tigers Spring Training

The Pennfield wrestling team beat Jackson Northwest 42-30.   The Panthers are 9-3 and 2-0 in the conference.  Winning for the Panthers were Kurtis Babcock, Esteban Gancer, Nick Schwarz and Taylor Dean.

NABF World Series Meeting

The SMABA, the NABF World Series tournament committee will be hosting a meeting for preparation for the NABF World Series on January 10th. The meeting will be held at Jack Pearls Team Sports and will begin at 10:30 AM. The meeting is open to anyone interested in assisting with the World Series. The 102nd NABF World Series will be August 5-9 at the Bailey Park Complex.
