Pistons

The Pistons wrapped up a three-game road trip with their 4th straight win---97-81 over the New York Knick.  Brandon Jennings scored 29 points. Jodie Meeks added 15 points, Greg Monroe and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope each had 12. Andre Drummond finished with seven points and 20 rebounds. It was the 10th straight loss for coach Derek Fisher and the Knicks. The Pistons host Sacramento on Sunday.

College Basketball

CMU beat Central Penn 123-80 inMount Pleasant.  Rayshawn Simmons had career highs of 20 points and 12 assists and seven players scored in double figures for the Chippewas.   Their 10-1 record matches last season's win total and matched the 1974-75 team for the best start since the 1969-70 team went 14-1.

The WMU Broncos beatRochesterCollege69-54 at University Arena on Friday.

With the win, WMU will enter Mid-American Conference play with a 9-4 record and head to Akron on Tuesday.

U of M, 8-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play, will tip off against Purdue on the road today.

MSU, 9-5 overall and 0-1 in the Big Ten, hosts Indiana Monday in East Lansing.   6pm on WBCK.

Bowl Games

Oklahoma State held off Washington 30-22 in the Cactus Bowl on Friday night.

14th-ranked UCLA outscored No. 11 Kansas State 40-35 in the Alamo Bowl.

Tennessee raced out to a 28-0 lead before holding off Iowa 45-28 at the TaxSlayer Bowl.

Houston used three touchdowns and a couple of onside kicks to rally for a 35-34 win over Pittsburgh in the Armed Forced Bowl.

NFL Playoffs

The NFL Playoffs get underway todayThe Steelers have announced that former MSU Spartan Le'Veon Bell's injured right knee will keep him out of today’s wild-card game against Baltimore. Bell hyperextended the knee in last Sunday's AFC North-clinching win over Cincinnati. Also today….The Cardinals visit the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte.

Union City58, St. Philip 35.  The Chargers move to 5-0 on the season. St.Philip is 2-3. Leading the Chargers was junior Colin Kreger with a game-high 15 points. Junior Jalen Boes added 10 points, while senior Darren Austin and juniorElijah Wayeach chipped in nine.   Austinalso added 14 rebounds, six assists, three blocks and four steals.

The St. Philip Girls bea tUnion City, 34-21. The Lady Tigers move to 5-2 while the Lady Chargers fall to 2-4.  Megan Gordon had nine points and four steals to lead St. Phillip. Kameron Haley and Adrian Hibbard each added eight points and Nina Winkler had four steals for the Tigers.
