Sports: Pistons Win Again!
Pistons
The Pistons beat the Jazz 92-87 in their home opener. Drummond had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Reggie Jackson added 19 points and four assists. The Pistons scored the final six points after falling behind by one with 23 seconds left. Backup guard Jodie Meeks left last night's game in the second quarter with a foot injury. X-rays after the game show he has a fractured foot. The Pistons are off tonight, but return to The Palace floor when they host the Chicago Bulls tomorrow.
Baseball
Johnny Cueto pitched a two-hitter as the Royals beat the Mets 7-1 to take a 2-0 lead in the World Series. First baseman Eric Hosmer had a key hit as Kansas City scored four times in the fifth against Mets’ starter Jacob DeGrom. Game 3 is Friday night at Citi Field with Yordano Ventura scheduled to get the ball for the Royals against Mets rookie Noah Syndergaard.
College Football
Western Michigan (4-3, 3-0) will travel to take on Eastern Michigan (1-7, 0-4) tonight in Thursday night college football action. Kick off in Ypsilanti is 7:30 p.m.
The Michigan Wolverines go up against the 4-3 Golden Gophers in Minnesota this Saturday night. Yesterday, Minnesota coach Jerry Kill abruptly retired over health concerns. Kill tearfully addressed the matter at a press conference after telling his staff and players of the decision, saying his epilepsy had become too draining for him to continue as coach. Kill said he had two seizures this week and that the toll on his body, his mind and his family had become too much.
MSU has a bye this week and will next take the field November 7th against the Cornhuskers in Nebraska.
Red Wings
The Red Wings will host the Ottawa Senators in the first of a home-and-home series on Friday.
MAC Basketball Picks
CMU’s men's basketball team is a heavy favorite to win the MAC West Division and the conference tournament in the media poll released Wednesday. Toledo was picked second. Western Michigan was picked to finish third in the MAC West.
High School Football
Pre-District games for High School Football are this weekend, with almost all games scheduled for Friday night. WBCK will broadcast the game between Portland St. Patrick and undefeated St. Philip, Friday at C.W. Post Field. On Saturday, we’ll broadcast a battle of 7-2 teams, as the Vicksburg Bulldogs visit the Marshall Redhawks. Galesburg Meats will be there with WBCK and you’ll be able to enjoy some free Barbeque before the game with Nate Adams and Jim Hughes.

It's an AFC East showdown on "Thursday Night Football" this week as the Miami Dolphins visit the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium.
Lions
The Lions are in England getting ready for Sunday's matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs at Wembley Stadium in London. Right tackle LaAdrian Waddle, with a knee injury, missed practice yesterday and wide receiver Calvin Johnson sat out drills for a veterans day off. Linebacker Stephen Tulloch, who is ill and punter Sam Martin, who has an injured knee, were limited at practice. Quarterback Matthew Stafford, who injured his hand in last week's loss to Minnesota, was listed as having a quad injury. Stafford was a full participant in drills yesterday and is expected to start Sunday.
