The Pistons beat the Bulls 109-95 at the Palace of Auburn Hills.  Reggie Jackson scored 24 of his 26 points in the second half.  Jackson was instrumental in helping the Pistons take control in a game Monday that was tied at 79 after three quarters.

The Pistons started sluggishly, but the bench provided energy against a Bulls team playing without injured Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo.

Detroit started the fourth with a 12-3 run and held Chicago to 16 points in the quarter.  The Pistons climbed into a tie for the No. 7 spot in the Eastern Conference with the Bulls.  The Pistons head to Indiana on Wednesday to play the Pacers.

MAC Basketball

Tucker Haymond scored 16 points, Thomas Wilder had 15 points and nine rebounds and Reggie Jones had 13 points and eight rebounds and Western Michigan beat Miami (Ohio) 65-61 in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament last night. Western Michigan advanced to play Ball State on Thursday.   Toledo beat Bowling Green 77-62 and will play No. 2-seed Ohio on Thursday.

Big Ten

Michigan plays Illinois on Thursday at noon.  The winner plays top seeded Purdue at noon on Friday.

MSU plays the winner of Wednesday’s Nebraska/Penn State game on Thursday at 1:30pm.  If the Spartans win that game, they’ll play 4th seeded Minnesota on Friday at 1:30pm.  The final is on Sunday afternoon.  Selection Sunday for the NCAA tournament is the next day.

Red Wings

The Red Wings finish a five game road trip with games in Toronto and Boston tonight  and Wednesday, and then play at home against the Blackhawks on Friday.

Tigers

The Tigers lost to Baltimore 7-2 in Lakeland.  Mike Pelfrey fell to 0-3 in the spring games. He gave up five runs in just over two innings.   Tiger batters managed just five hits on the day.  Justin Verlander pitches against the Phillies today in Lakeland.

World Baseball Classic

The World Baseball Classic got underway Monday, as Israel beat Korea and Taiwan.  Today, The Netherlands beat Korea 5-0. Japan plays Cuba and later, Cuba plays China. Team USA doesn’t play until Friday night, against Columbia.
