The Red Wings beat the Phoenix Coyotes 5-3 on Tuesday night at Little Caesar’s Arena.  The Coyotes had played an overtime game the night before, and the Red Wings applied the pressure early, with Luke Glendening and Gustav Nyquist scoring scoring in the first three minutes. Anthony Mantha scored his team-leading fifth goal.  Dylan Larkin added a goal and an assist.  Darren Helm had an empty netter.  The Red Wings start a long road trip on Thursday in Ottawa, and then head to Edmonton on Sunday, stopping in Vancouver and Calgary next week.

Pistons

The Pistons lost to the Lakers last night, 113-93.   Tobias Harris and Reggie Jackson each had 18 points for the Pistons, who had won their previous three games against the Lakers, and were coming off wins over the Clippers and Warriors.  Andre Drummond had 10 points and 12 rebounds.   Julius Randle scored 17 points; Lonzo Ball added 13 for the Lakers. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had 13 against his old team.  Coach Stan Van Gundy called it “a humbling experience”.   He said the Lakers absolutely dominated the full 48 minutes, winning all four quarters.  The Pistons are home at Little Caesar’s Arena to play Milwaukee on Friday, and the Sacramento Kings on Saturday.
