Red Wings

The Red Wings beat the Florida Panthers 5-4 for their 6th straight win.  The Wings scored 4 unanswered goals in the second.  Luke Glendening scored twice in the game.

Detroit also got goals from Drew Miller, Henrik Zetterberg and Stephen Weiss. The Panthers had 41 shots, and had three power play goals.  Petr Mrazek stopped 37 shots in the win.

With the win, the Wings move ahead of Tampa Bay for first place in the Atlantic Division.  They visit the Lightning on Thursday before returning home to host the Islanders Saturday.

 

 

Pistons

The Pistons lost to the Cleveland Cavs, 103-95.  It was their third straight loss, since Brandon Jennings went down for the season with an Achilles tear.  D.J. Augustin led Detroit with 19 points. Kyrie Irving hit six threes on his way to 38 points and added six assists. LeBron James posted 32 points.  The Pistons host Philadelphia tonight.

College Basketball

Michigan beat Nebraska, 58-44 last night at Crisler Center. Zak Irvin led the Wolverines with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Michigan is at Michigan State on Sunday.

Buffalo pulled away in the second half to beat Western Michigan 77-71.

Kent State beat Central Michigan 63-53.

EMU beat Ohio 76-40.

Michigan State takes on Rutgers at 6 p.m. Thursday. Broadcast time will be 5pm on WBCK.

Pennfield hosts Harper Creek in a boys/girls doubleheader tonight. It’s a 'Red Out,' night to raise money for the American Heart Association.
