Tigers

The Tigers were off Thursday and finish their 8-game road trip in Kansas City.  The Tigers send Rick Porcello to the mound tonight against the Royals’ James Shields. Broadcast time is 7:45 on WBCK-FM.   Detroit starts a seven game home stand on Monday against the Houston Astros.

NBA Playoffs

Golden State snuck past the Clippers 100-99 in an ugly, foul filled game from ORACLE Arena. The Pacers and Hawks head back to Indiana after the Pacers won 95-88. The Thunder beat the Grizzlies, 104-84, on the road in Game Six.  For the first time in NBA history, all three deciding games will be played on the same day, which is tomorrow.

Three more Game Six's are being played tonight.  Toronto has a 3-2 lead and tries to close out the Nets in Brooklyn.  Dallas tries to stay alive tonight as they host the Spurs.

Portland leads Houston 3 games to 2.  Any series that goes to a Game Seven will take place on Sunday.

NHL Playoffs

Montreal beat Boston 4-3 in double overtime to go up 1-0 in their best-of-seven series.  Game Two will be Saturday in Boston.

Tonight, Pittsburgh will host the New York Rangers in Game One.  Chicago will host Minnesota to open their semifinal series.

Racing

NASCAR this weekend heads to Talladega.  And Talladega isn’t the only big race this weekend.  The Kentucky Derby is Saturday night.

High School  Baseball

Homer swept Union City, 14-1 and 14-4.

Lakeview 9, Mattawan 5.  Jake Bivens had 4 hits.

Softball

Lakeview 31, Hastings 20.  The Spartans were down by 11 runs and came back to win.

Girls Tennis

The All-City Tennis Tournament starts tomorrow at 9 a.m. at Lakeview, where the girls  have won the last eight city championships, and 23 of the last 24.

Boys Golf

Nineteen golf teams battled it out at Bedford Valley for the Gull Lake Tom Collins Invitational.  Marshall finished second.  Lakeview placed third.  St. Joseph won the event.

Pro Golf

Angel Cabrera fired a 6-under 66 in the first round of the Wells Fargo Championship on Thursday to claim a 1-stroke lead over two players, including Phil Mickelson.

Suzann Pettersen carded a 5-under 66 on Thursday to grab a 1-stroke lead after the opening round of the North Texas LPGA Shootout.

MSU to Play Notre Dame in Basketball

Michigan State and Notre Dame played their first basketball game in 1908, but they haven’t played each other in 35 years.  That will change this season, after the ACC/Big Ten Challenge has brought it back.  MSU will travel to Notre Dame on Dec. 3.

Lions

The first round of the NFL draft will take place in New York next Thursday, followed by the second and third rounds on Friday and rounds four through seven on Saturday.

Former Lions great Herman Moore will be there again to announce Detroit's second round pick.  He is one of 32 players to take part in the second-round selections of their former teams.  Moore also did it three years ago.
