The Tigers blew another chance to beat the White Sox and lost the series after Wednesday’s 7-4 loss. The Tigers stuck early against Sox starter Luis Quintana as Justin Upton connected on a three run homer. But the Sox tied it up in the third against Anibal Sanchez.  In the 7th, the Tigers went ahead on a clutch ground rule double by Jose Iglesias. But as the ball left the field, Casey McGee had to stop at third and the Tigers ended up with one run.  Bruce Rondon and Alex Wilson were effective in relief, but Shane Greene and Justin Wilson were not. Jose Abreu led off the eighth with a single for his third hit and scored on Justin Morneau's double. Avisail Garcia hit a go-ahead single against his former team in a four-run eighth inning. Tyler Saladino and Adam Eaton added RBI singles.  The start was delayed 40 minutes for a threat of thunderstorms that never arrived on a steamy day with the heat index approaching 100 degrees.   The Tigers are off today and head home to play Baltimore on Friday.  They trail first place Cleveland by 5 ½ games and squandered a chance to move into a tie with Baltimore for the second wild card.
