Tigers

The Tigers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-3.  Shane Greene was in trouble early, but recovered to pitch six strong innings in his first start since undergoing shoulder surgery last August.  Greene allowed two runs and three hits in six innings. He struck out seven and walked three in helping Detroit win for the fifth time in seven games to start the season.   Ian Kinsler hit a home run to make it 2-1.  Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit a grand slam for his 100th career home run and the Tigers led 5-2.  Game four is today in Pittsburgh. Jordan Zimmerman will be on the mound for Detroit.  Broadcast time is 12:10 on WBCK.

Red Wings

The Red Wings lost game one of the playoffs 3-2 at Tampa Bay.  Mike Green and Justin Abdelkader scored for Detroit.  The Wings outshot the Lightning 36-34 but had few real scoring opportunities after taking a 2-1 lead in the second period. Nikita Kucherov scored twice and Alex Killorn snapped a third-period tie with his 11th career playoff goal. Game two is in Tampa on Friday.  The series will shift back to Detroit for game 3 on Sunday night.

NBA/Pistons

The Pistons finished the regular season with a 112-110 overtime win over first place Cleveland, as both teams rested their starters. Jodie Meeks scored 20 to lead the Pistons. Meeks, who played just 17 minutes all season because of a foot injury, scored four in OT. The teams will play Game 1 this weekend.

A historic night for basketball fans as the Golden State Warriors break the regular-season wins record with 73.  Kobe Bryant played his final game in the NBA last night, and it was one of his best ever.  He scored 60 points on a career-high 50 shots to pull off a huge come-from-behind win over the Utah Jazz.  The Lakers came back from 15 points down to win 101 to 96.

The Calhoun Christian Cougars battled the LA Dragons to a 3-3 tie.

Megan Gordon, Delaney Rose, and Kirstin Finnila each had one goal.

Softball

The KCC softball team was swept by Ancilla 6-2 and 12-3 to drop their record to 17-5.  Head Coach Derek Herman says they need to regroup after a lack of both offense and defense.  Today KCC hits the road to play 2 non-conference games against the Alma JV.

Parchment 16, Climax-Scotts 9

Baseball
KCC swept KVCC on Tuesday to go to 18-11 on the season.  Head Coach Eric Laskovy says the sweep is a great start to a week where the team will play 8 conference games.  The Bruins have two games today at LCC and host St. Clair County on Friday and Jackson CC on Saturday.

Lakeview, swept St. Joseph 7- 3 and 8-1: Lakeview's Taylor Perrett has a complete-game win in Game 1.

Homer sweeps North Adams-Jerome 16-1 and 8-2.
