Coach Jim Caldwell says it's not certain if he'll play in Sunday's season opener at San Diego. Defensive tackle Caraun Reid and guard Larry Warford were also helmetless at practice.  The Lions put rookie cornerback Alex Carter on injured reserve-designated to return.
