Tigers
The Tigers beat the Twins 5-4 in Minnesota. Victor Martinez had three hits and two RBIs to break out of a slump. The Twins came back to make it 4-3. The Tigers managed to squeeze out a much-needed insurance run in the 9th on a bunt by Andrew Romine. With Bruce Rondon closing out the 9th, they needed that insurance run. He gave up a two out RBI double to Joe Mauer to make it 5-4, but Rondon was able to get the final out for his 5th save. James McCann had three hits for Detroit. Alfredo Simon pitched into the seventh inning for his 13th win against 9 losses. He gave up three runs on eight hits and struck out four. The Tigers, 12 games under .500, were officially eliminated in the AL Central after winning the division title each of the last four years. Daniel Norris, fresh off the disabled list, starts for the Tigers tonight in Minnesota. Broadcast time is 7:45 on WBCK.

Red Wings
Red Wings forward Johan Franzen has been cleared by doctors to take part in Detroit's upcoming training camp and preseason games.
