The Tigers dropped their third straight with a 5-1 loss to the Angels.  It was a pitching duel last night, as Justin Verlander allowed just one hit in through the first seven.  But in the 8th, the Angels rallied with three straight singles to take a 1-0 lead.

Then, with runners on second and third and one out, Andrew Romine made a great stop, but couldn’t get the runner at home and James McCann’s throw to first went down the right field line.  Verlander left, and the Angels teed off on reliever Buck Farmer. They sent ten men to the plate and scored five runs.  Jhoulys Chacin pitched a complete game and gave up four hits and struck out 10 Tigers.  The Tigers’ only run came in the 9th when J.D. Martinez doubled. and scored on a sacrifice fly from Victor Martinez.  Anibal Sanchez starts for the Tigers tonight against the Angels.   Broadcast time is 9:40 on WBCK.
