The Tigers beat the Chicago White Sox 6-4 on Sunday, to take two out of three from the Sox.  Alfredo Simon struck out seven and allowed four runs — one earned — in eight innings to raise his record to 6-3. Joakim Soria earned his 16th save.  Detroit finished with 10 hits after getting 18 on Saturday. The middle of the order — Cespedes, Tyler Collins and Martinez — combined for eight hits and six RBIs.  The Tigers rallied with three runs in the sixth on homers by Cespedes and Martinez, who had three RBIs.  Cespedes cut Detroit's deficit to 4-3 with a solo shot, his eighth. Two batters later, Martinez hit a two-run drive, his 10th.   The Tigers are off today and play the Cubs at Comerica Park on Tuesday and Wednesday night.  Broadcast time is 6:40 p.m. on WBCK.

Bombers

The Bombers lost in Green Bay on Sunday, 10-7.   Battle Creek gave up three in the 7th and 2 in the 9th.  The same two teams play tonight in Green Bay, and then the Bombers head down to Wausau to play the Wisconsin Woodchucks.

Symetra Tournament

Madeleine Sheils won the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship by two strokes Sunday for her first Symetra Tour title. Sheils birdied two of the last four holes for a 4-under 68 and a 10-under 206 total at Battle Creek Country Club. The 25-year-old former Nebraska player from Boise, Idaho, earned $15,000 to jump from 24th to 10th on the money list with $26,356. The final top 10 will earn 2016 LPGA Tour cards.  Lindy Duncan and Katelyn Sepmoree tied for second. Duncan finished with a 68, and Sepmoree had a 71. South Korea's Jacey Chun was third at 7 under after a 71. She had a double bogey, three bogeys and a birdie on the final seven holes.

High School Golf

Lakeview junior golfer Andrew Walker won the individual state title after finishing first in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 1 Boys' Finals on Saturday at Big Rapids.   The Lakeview team finished second in the state to Detroit Catholic Central.

NBA

LeBron James shot just 11 of 34 from the field but finished with 39 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists as the Cleveland Cavaliers beat Golden State 95-93 to even in the NBA Finals at a game apiece. Game 3 is Tuesday night in Cleveland.

NHL

Game three in the Stanley Cup Series is tonight in Chicago with the series tied at one each.

Girls Soccer

Gull Lake’s girls' soccer team advances to the state semifinals to face DeWitt on Tuesday atGrand Rapids Christian High School, beginning at 6 p.m.  The winner will advance to the state championship on June 12 at MSU.

High School Baseball

Climax-Scotts beat Morenci 9-3 and then beat Concord 3-1 to win a regional championship.  The Panthers play Centreville in the state quarterfinals Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Bailey Park.

Softball

Bronson is headed to the state quarterfinals after beating Quincy 2-0 and Lansing Catholic 10-0.   Bronson plays Grand Rapids West Catholic Tuesday at 2 at Davenport University.

PGA

David Lingmerth was able celebrate his first PGA victory after knocking in a par putt on the third playoff hole to outlast Justin Rose at the Memorial.  Tiger Woods finished in last place.  After his third round 85 the former world No. 1 closed out the tournament with a 2-over-74 to finish 14-over-par.

Tennis

Stan Wawrinka pulled off a big upset in the men's final at the French Open beating top-seed Novak Djokovic 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4.  The French title is the only major Djokovic has not won.   Serena Williams won the Women’s Title.

NASCAR

Martin Truex Jr. won Sunday at Pocono Raceway for his first Sprint Cup victory since 2013. Kevin Harvick was second, followed by Jimmie Johnson, Joey Logano and Kurt Busch.
