The Red Wings couldn't hold on to a two-goal lead and lost to the Boston Bruins 3-2 last night at Joe Louis Arena. With the loss, the Red Wings are now tied for third with the Bruins, and other teams are breathing down their necks.  Luke Glendening and Stephen Weiss scored for Detroit, but Boston had three unanswered goals in the third to seal the win. Forward Drew Miller who was cut in the face Tuesday against the Senators returned to the lineup last night to play in his 159th straight game for the Wings. The Red Wings take on the Wild in Minnesota tomorrow night.

Tigers

The Tigers beat the Yankees 3-2 Thursday at Joker Marchant Stadium.  Starting pitcher Angel Nesbitt gave up one hit, in two innings, while Joba Chamberlain picked up his first win in one and one third innings of scoreless work.   Nick Castellanos went one-for-three at the plate with two RBI.

Detroit wraps up their home Grapefruit League schedule when they host the Tampa Bay Rays this afternoon in Lakeland. Game time is 1:05 p.m.  They finish inFloridaon Saturday inTampa, and we’ll have that game on WBCK at 12:30 tomorrow. The Tigers open the regular season at home Monday against the Minnesota Twins….12:40 on WBCK.

Tigers on DL

Tigers starting pitcher Justin Verlander and relief pitcher Bruce Rondon will begin the regular season on the disabled list.  Verlander is on the 15 day DL, retroactive to Tuesday, with a right-triceps strain and will be eligible to pitch April 12th. It's the first time in his career that he's been placed on the disabled list. Rondon is opening his second straight season on the DL. He missed all of 2014 season following Tommy John surgery, and was put on the disabled list yesterday with bicep tendinitis.

College Basketball

Stanford edged Miami64-62 to win the NIT Championship atMadisonSquareGarden.

MichiganStateplays Duke in the Final Four on Saturday.    Broadcast time is 4:30 on WBCK.  Kentucky will play Wisconsin following the MSU game, with the national championship game next Monday. Kentucky is the heavy favorite to win its ninth national title. The Wildcats won it all in 2012 and were the national runner-up last year.

Wisconsinis seeking its second national title and first since 1941. Duke has won the tournament four times, with the most recent in 2010. Michigan State is in the Final Four for the seventh time in the last 17 seasons and ninth time overall. The Spartans went on to win national championships in 1979 and 2000.

The women's NCAA Final Four is Sunday night inTampa.  South Carolina takes on Notre Dame on Sunday evening, followed by UCONN and Maryland.   The winners play on Tuesday.

Pistons

The Pistons wrap up a two-game road trip with a stop in Chicago against the Bulls tonight.

KCC Baseball

KCC’s baseball team lost to Davenport University2-0.
