Red Wings

The Red Wings lost the New York Islanders 2-1 last night at Joe Louis Arena. The Wings have dropped five out of their last six games. Henrik Zetterberg had the only goal of the night for the Wings. Brock Nelson and Anders Lee had the goals for New York.  Jimmy Howard allowed a goal on nine shots before leaving with a lower-body injury.
Petr Mrazek made 22 saves the rest of the way. The Red Wings will host Colorado on Sunday.

Pistons

The Pistons lost to Toronto 110-100.    Detroit has lost its last three games, and 12 straight at home.   The game was tied at 51 at the half.  Toronto used a strong third quarter to overcome a slow start.  Brandon Jennings had 22 points and eight assists. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope chipped in 18 points on 4-of-6 shooting from 3-point range.

Detroit will travel to Brooklyn to tip off against the Nets on Sunday.

WMU Football Today

Western Michigan University will face Air Force in today's Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in Boise, Idaho.  The Broncos have a size advantage.  The Air Force has more speed.  Kickoff is 5:45pm.


Big Ten Basketball

CMU beat Concordia, 97-60 to go 8-1 on the season.

The MSU Spartan Men’s team will host Texas Southern today. Broadcast time is 4pm on WBCK.

The Michigan Wolverines will look to snap a three-game slide when they host SMU. Tip-off at the Crisler Center is 12:00 p.m.   If you want to skip the Christmas Shopping and go to the game, I have a pair of tickets……you’d have to pick them up here and hit the highway by 10.   I’ll take caller 4 at 441-9595.   SMU at Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Western Michigan (7-3) travels to Northwestern (6-4) with a game time of 3:00 p.m. Eastern Michigan is at Missouri State.

The Lions head to Chicago Sunday.    Lions at Bears…12 noon Sunday on WBCK.  At 10-and-4, the Lions and Packers are tied atop the division but Detroit beat Green Bay earlier this season. The Lions and Packers meet at Lambeau Field in Week 17.

Wolves Hockey This Weekend

The West Michigan Wolves Junior A hockey team beat Toledo last night at the Rink, 5-3.   Dakota Ulmer had two goals.  Benjamin Sera, Michael Tratar and Zach Lloyd all scored for West Michigan.   Chase Stanford made 18 saves in goal.   The Wolves are on the road to play Toledo tonight at 7pm.
