How'd you like to learn the ins and outs of the Battle Creek Police Department?   They're taking applications right now for the 2019 Citizen's Police Academy.

BCPD Sgt. Chris Rabbit was a guest on the 95.3 WBCK Morning Show with Tim Collins and says they can have a class as big as 25.   He says the new police facility will make it easier to have a bigger class.   Here are some of the things you'll learn about:

  • Patrol Operations
  • Crime Prevention
  • Defensive Tactics
  • Gang Suppression Squad
  • Crime Lab
  • Community Engagement
  • K-9, etc.

You have to be 18 years old or older, a citizen of Battle Creek or Bedford Township, or be an area business owner.

Sgt. Rabbit says there are now physical qualifications and participants won't have to do any obstacle courses or anything like that.

The Academy will meet Wednesdays from March 6th thru May 15th, from 6pm-9pm and also on two Saturdays: April 13th an May 11th, from 9am-1pm.
