For a place with "Sugar" in the name, you would expect lots of candy and ice cream but not such a varied food menu.

Monday I had dinner at The Sugar Bear in Paw Paw and was surprised by what I found. Of course they had the usual ice cream and sundae treats you would want to enjoy but when I was asked if I wanted to try the Ruben soup that shop owner Courtney Buhl had made. I found out the Ruben soup is not always on the menu and only available for a limited time.

I was intrigued so I tried it. This is what the brought me. Yes, those are rye bread croutons along with corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese. Almost like a German version of French Onion.

I was surprised with what I tasted, it was the best of both worlds, a soup and sandwich in one. Wanna try this for yourself? Get to the Sugar Bear in Paw Paw before it goes away.
