A Battle Creek firefighter suffered a minor injury while responding to a blaze early Sunday morning. Fire crews were called to a home on James St., near Cliff, around 5 a.m. The three occupants were out of the home upon the arrival of Rescue 3. The bulk of the fire was located in the ceiling/ attic area and was quickly brought under control while a second crew put out hot spots. The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical originating in the attic of the home. The home was ventilated and tarps were used to cover property below the attic to prevent further damage. A quick response is believed to have minimized damages.

The firefighter was injured while checking for extension. The injury was to the right forearm and elbow.

One command officer and seventeen firefighters responded to the scene.
