A man is in jail in Battle Creek after police turned up evidence of dog fighting at a home.

Battle Creek Police Officers executed a search warrant to a home in the 100 block of Battle Creek Ave around 3pm Wednesday, looking for drugs.  In the home crack cocaine and handguns were found, but as well there were five dogs on the property, two of them severely injured.

Dog fighting equipment was also found, including dog treadmills.  The animals were transferred to the Calhoun County Animal Shelter to be looked after.

A man was arrested at the home, on multiple drug and dog fighting charges.
