The Battle Creek City Commission is meeting Tuesday evening, and will be adopting two ordinances and voting on a third regarding the Home Run Dog Park at Bailey Park.
The Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police offers departments around the state accreditation, if those departments are able to meet 105 different professional standards.
The plan is to fix up the concrete curb and gutter, the sidewalk ramp, and to upgrade the traffic signal at the intersection of Capital and Michigan Avenues.
The Battle Creek City Commission is voting on a proposed resolution on Tuesday, which would lay out 18 different regulations for the Home Run Dog Park.
A resolution is being considered Tuesday that authorizes the City Manager to enter into an Easement for Road Project agreement with MDOT; in exchange for the parcels of land, the City will get over $9,000 as fair market value.
In a letter, the City of Battle Creek’s Planning Manager Christine Zuzga says that the current zoning ordinance is “inflexible” and “not user friendly”, as it lacks things like graphics, charts, drawings, and examples to help people understand the code.
According to the fundraising website, Friends of Calhoun County Dog Parks raised $40,000 dollars, $10,000 over their goal, to build the dog park at Bailey Park on the northeast end of Battle Creek.
The Battle Creek City Commission is considering a resolution which allows for construction of a V-shaped electronic billboard north of the Water Tower, right across the street from Premiere Jewelers.
