The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says that detectives from their office as well as the Marshall Police Department began investigating sexual assaults against a 16-year-old girl that allegedly occurred in both Marshall, and Bedford Township.
The Michigan Department of Treasury says that out of 490 local government units that submitted information, 110 in the state are either underfunding their retiree pensions, heathcare plans, or both. That 110 includes Battle Creek, Marshall, and Union City.
The BCPS Housing Incentive Program will allow district teachers and administrators to receive up to $10,000 in financial assistance towards buying a new home in the district, and up to $10,000 to improve a home in the district.
Mitchell’s resignation will be effective March 31, and she says she will work to help ensure her departure is smooth. Sheryl Mitchell has served with Albion as City Manager since 2014. She did not give a reason in this letter for her resignation.
Police say Heltzel had been shoplifting from the Meijer store on Beckley Rd. with another man in November 2016; when police attempted to make contact, they instead jumped in a minivan with Heltzel behind the wheel, and sped away.
The City says that the meetings will allow those who currently use the Battle Creek Transit, as well as those who don’t, to take a look at potential changes over the next five years. The meetings are a part of Transit’s master plan process.
