It's amazing how the Ships on the Great Lakes still manage to do their jobs, despite ice that is several feet thick at times, and chunks the size of cars.
The locks close each year for 10 weeks for cleaning and repairs. This year they had to keep it open just a few hours later, so one last freighter could squeeze through.
