Calhoun County Sheriff's Deputies rescued a woman whose car was trapped under a live power pole.

Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department responded to the call, at 10:30 AM Thursday morning, in the 13000 block of North Drive South.

When units arrived they found a 73-year-old Tekonsha woman in her 2003 Lincoln Town Car, trapped beneath a Consumers Energy power pole. It seems that the woman accidentally stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake pedal and shot out of her driveway into the pole.

Consumers Energy arrived to de-energize the power line so that she could be safely removed from the vehicle. She suffered no injuries.
