    Go Apple Picking

Fuji, Honey Crisp - You Pick!

Don't get too wrapped up in the pumpkin patches before you pick your first peck of apples! Southwest Michigan has several great places where you can attend a U Pick event for some of your favorite fruits! Gull Meadow Farms in Richland, MI announces their U Pick times ahead of time on their Facebook. Don't miss Gull Meadow's Honey Crisp U Pick Day coming up on Sunday, Sept. 20. Check out their websites for details. Imagine all the apple crisp and caramel apples you can eat as a prequel to the chocolatey-cookie-filled, stomach-twisting, pillow-case full of Halloween candy!

Take A Drive To See The Colors

    Don't miss the sites!

Sure, Halloween sites and set ups are pretty cool (especially if you have one of those inflatable cat-witches out front). But have you ever taken the time to actually go on a fall color tour across Southwest Michigan? Do it this year! Michigan.org has several routes and suggested times of the season for you to do so. They even have a route that starts in the Kalamazoo area and goes up through Grand Haven! Plus, we promise you don't even have to put on a costume to enjoy this ride.

    Participate in a 5k

Burn those calories and support a cause!

Tis the season for 5K walks and runs! A 5K (3.1 miles) event is for those of us who aren't as hard core as a Marathon, but we still want to burn a few extra calories before we indulge in the sweets and treats our neighborhoods have to offer at the close of October. With cooler temperatures and crisper air, this is some peoples' favorite season to run! You can find a 5K event for any sort of organization you would like to support.  From the Doggie Dash on Saturday Sept. 19 in Kalamazoo to the Miles for Memories event for Alzheimer Research in Battle Creek, you can find something you're passionate about supporting that will get your legs moving! You can find a complete list of upcoming Michigan 5Ks at runningintheusa.com.

Go Camping or Have a Bonfire

    Cuddle up close!

Think about it, no blistering sun on your back while you play cards. You don't have to sleep across the tent form your significant other because it is so warm, you can cuddle up with blankets! Many people prefer the windy days of fall to get up close to a fire or enjoy the simple camping life. Try checking out an area state park this fall season!
